Trainers: Dr. Steve Harker and Amy Acker
This training will focus on the interplay of how symptoms associated with thought disorders and PTSD impact social functioning, and commonly lead to drug use to facilitate increased ability to form social connections. This training will guide teams to explore and implement exposure therapy interventions to support people in building the skills and ability to engage in community, which often times can lead to decreased need for substances.
Objectives
- Participants will have an understanding of how drug use is often used by people to help overcome social skill deficits associated with their illness.
- Participants will develop a baseline knowledge of how exposure therapy can be used within ACT to address social skills deficits.
- Participants will be able to identify how the training concepts can be applied to individuals served by their team.
