Title: Mental health services for justice involved individuals

Training Description: This training will focus on describing the unique challenges and opportunities of working with an SPMI population with corrections involvement. It will focus on a number of topics including collaborating with probation, integrating care as clients move between corrections and community settings, risk assessment tools, forensic cognitive behavioral interventions, and using team-based person-centered planning to maintain a treatment alliance.
Training Objectives:
- Develop an understanding of the treatment challenges inherent to a forensic population and develop skills for effective case management practices and effective communicating within the corrections system
- Become familiar with forensic assessment: risk assessment tools and assessing for criminal thinking patterns.
- Balancing coercion and recovery: the use of person-centered planning to facilitate recovery.
